I am an International Recruitment Specialist with keen interest in Africa’s Growth & Development, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
I hold a first degree in Sociology & Anthropology from Enugu State University of Science & Technology, Nigeria and a Masters degree in International Development from the University of Bath, United Kingdom.
Soon after my Masters degree, I joined Justmeans, London as a Corporate Social Responsibility Resourcer, working directly with the Co-founder/MD to start up the London office and develop the company’s presence in the United Kingdom. In 2008, I joined Global Career Company London, with the responsibility of delivering high-level recruitment consultancy service to companies across the emerging markets, especially sub-Saharan Africa. Over 5+ year, I held multiple roles including International Recruiter, International Recruitment Consultant, International Recruitment Lead, Internal Recruitment Lead and Senior Recruitment Consultant. In 2013, I joined Millicom’s HR Team in London as a Global Corporate Recruiter.
While I am not an expert in every industry, my recruitment experience cuts across the Oil & Gas, Information Technology, Telecommunication, Banking & Finance, Professional Services, FMCG as well as Manufacturing sectors. In addition, I have worked closely with and recruited experienced professionals and graduates for some of Africa’s leading companies such as Diageo, Unilever, Heineken, CocaCola Sabco, Vodafone, MTN, Etisalat, Starcomms, IFC, PwC, Barclays, Standard Chartered Bank, Alexander Forbes, Exim Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Diamond Bank, Invensys, Nampak, Aggreko, Steelcase, Dangote, Lafarge/UniCem and Oando.
Working as a Recruitment Consultant for companies across Africa although challenging, was very exciting and I enjoyed every step of the journey. It was particularly rewarding as it gave me the opportunity not only to match top locally based African professionals with great opportunities, but also contribute to Africa’s “reverse brain drain” goal by helping internationally based Africans find exciting opportunities back home. As a Global Corporate Recruiter, I am now sitting on the other side of the fence, but still very keen to continue contributing.
The last six years has seen me liaise with tens of company executives at both headquarter, regional and local levels, with a view to understanding their short and long term recruitment goals and partnering with them to develop and implement strategies for identifying, attracting and recruiting top professionals for different roles in their companies.
I am currently exploring the world of blogging which is born out of the need to learn, network and engage more with African professionals and friends of Africa. My article From an African Recruitment Consultant to an African Recruitment Blogger explains this in more detail.
I look forward to engaging with you…
